The Child Welfare Information Gateway stated that "An estimated 905,000 children were victims of child abuse or neglect in 2006"(U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2008).
The Child Welfare Information Gateway stated that child abuse often has "physical, psychological, behavioral, and societal consequences" (POV).
The Child Welfare Information Gateway statesChildren who are abused or neglected are "25 percent more likely to experience problems such as delinquency, teen pregnancy, low academic achievement, drug use, and mental health problems" (Kelley, Thornberry, & Smith, 1997).

Children who are abused or neglected are "11 times more likely to be arrested for criminal behavior as a juvenile, 2.7 times more likely to be arrested for violent and criminal behavior as an adult, and 3.1 times more likely to be arrested for one of many forms of violent crime"(English, Widom, & Brandford, 2004).

It talks of how much of an impact child abuse and neglect has on children and their families, hoping to find an end to abuse all together.

The Authors are part of the Child Welfare Information Gateway , which promotes the safety, permanency, and well-being of children. Their site is used to inform about the effects of child abuse and what ways it can be stopped or prevented. They provide research that can be shared to inform and child welfare.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

The site exists simply to inform and teach. It wants to take a step towards ending child abuse and neglect.

I do not detect any bias in this source.

Yes, the authors cite many references in their writing. This adds to the credibilty because it shows that the information was actually researched and accurate.

I will use this source to support my opinion on the fact that child abuse does lead to criminal activity. It provides a lot of statistics and information that I can incorporate into my project.
